As a former member and chair of the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole, he played a key role in shaping the state’s criminal justice policies. His appointment to the Board made history, as he became Utah’s first Black Cabinet member. Keith has been a dedicated advocate for fairness in the legal system, further demonstrated by his role as co-chair of the Utah Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness. His extensive background gives him a unique perspective on justice, rehabilitation, and the legal complexities surrounding pardons and parole.

Before his legal career, Keith developed a strong foundation in leadership and service. He served as a full-time missionary in Puerto Rico and Barbados before attending law school. After earning his law degree, he entered military service as a judge advocate in the United States Navy, stationed in San Francisco and Rota, Spain. His experience in military law, both domestically and internationally, sharpened his skills in advocacy, negotiation, and legal strategy. Today, he continued his service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserve, bringing a disciplined, strategic approach to his legal practice.

Keith was a proud member of the Utah State Bar and the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court, a reflection of his dedication to legal excellence. Beyond the courtroom, he is actively engaged in community service, particularly within his church and civic organizations. He has served as a bishop and branch president in his local congregation and volunteers at the Jordan River Utah Temple. His deep commitment to mentorship and service extends beyond the legal field, making a lasting impact on those around him.

In addition to his legal and public service work, Keith has a passion for the arts, sports, and music. A former radio personality and disc jockey in North Carolina, he has remained connected to the entertainment industry, occasionally performing in community theater. He has taken on roles such as Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird, showcasing his ability to bring stories of justice and resilience to life both in and out of the courtroom.
